◆　A two-night, three-day course themed 
　　“journey from ancient times to the present and from the sea to the hills”
The history of the Yoichi area, which stretches back to ancient times, begins at the sea.
Participants in this course will first get a view of the sea, the cradle of history, from the
vantage point of a Stand-Up Paddleboard (SUP), reflecting on traces of antiquity.
They will then immerse themselves in the history and lifestyle of a town that thrived on
herring fishing during the Meiji, Taisho, and Showa eras (spanning from the late 19th
century to the late 20th century). The journey continues with an exploration of Yoichi’s
history, which solidifies its status as a burgeoning wine-producing region. This history
includes the longstanding production of Nikka Whisky, dating back to the early Showa era,
and the initiation of wine grape cultivation in the 1970s.
